Aaronaut Studios LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the GiftBetter mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use GiftBetter.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App immediately.
Information We Collect
GiftBetter does not require account creation. You can use the App without providing any personally identifying information. However, we may collect the following categories of data:
Anonymous Authentication
GiftBetter does not require you to create a named account. When you first use the App, a random anonymous identifier (UUID) is assigned to your device and stored locally. This identifier has no inherent link to your real identity. If you purchase a Pro subscription, your anonymous identifier is associated with your Apple or Google account solely for the purpose of verifying your subscription status. You may delete all data associated with your identifier at any time via Settings → Delete Account & Data in the App, which permanently removes all quiz sessions, saved gifts, and recipient profiles from our servers within 24 hours.
Information You Voluntarily Provide
- Gift preferences, occasion details, and recipient characteristics (e.g., age range, interests, budget) that you enter to generate recommendations. This information is processed to produce results and is stored against your anonymous identifier.
- Communications you send to us, such as support requests submitted via email.
Recipient Profile Data (Pro Subscribers)
Pro subscribers may optionally save profiles for people they buy gifts for, including names, relationships, ages, birthdays, and interests. This constitutes personal data about individuals who have not directly interacted with our App. We store this data solely to pre-fill future quiz sessions at your request. You can delete all recipient profiles at any time via Settings → Delete Account & Data, or by contacting us at [email protected].
Information Collected Automatically
- Device and technical data: device type, operating system version, app version, and anonymous device identifiers.
- Usage data: features accessed, search queries entered, and interactions within the App.
- Crash reports and diagnostic logs generated when errors occur.
- IP address and general geographic region (country or state level), used for analytics and fraud prevention.
Information from Third Parties
- Analytics providers may share aggregated, anonymized performance data about App usage.
- Third-party SDKs integrated into the App (e.g., crash reporting, analytics) may independently collect device-level data subject to their own privacy policies.
How We Use Your Information
We use collected information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the App and its recommendation features.
- Personalize gift suggestions based on preferences and recipient details you supply.
- Send transactional communications (e.g., account confirmations, password resets).
- Respond to customer support inquiries.
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to enhance functionality and fix bugs.
- Enforce our Terms of Service and comply with legal obligations.
- Send promotional communications where you have consented and as permitted by law.
Sharing of Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We share data with the following third-party processors who assist in delivering our services. Each is bound by data processing agreements consistent with applicable law:
- Supabase (supabase.com) — database hosting and anonymous authentication. Data is stored on servers in the United States. Supabase provides Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) under their Data Processing Agreement to cover transfers of EU/UK personal data.
- Anthropic (anthropic.com) — powers gift recommendations. Quiz answers (relationship, occasion, age range, interests, budget) are transmitted to Anthropic's API to generate recommendations. Anthropic does not use this data to train models by default.
- SerpAPI (serpapi.com) — retrieves Amazon product data used to populate recommendations.
- RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. If you purchase a subscription, RevenueCat processes your transaction in conjunction with Apple or Google.
- Sentry (sentry.io) — crash reporting and error monitoring. Sentry is configured to scrub personally identifiable information from error reports. No quiz answer data is transmitted to Sentry.
- Expo (expo.dev) — powers push notifications. If you grant notification permission, your device push token is stored and used solely to deliver gift reminders you have requested.
International Data Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States. If you are located in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with data transfer restrictions, your data is transferred under appropriate safeguards. For transfers to Supabase, these safeguards are the Standard Contractual Clauses incorporated into Supabase's Data Processing Agreement. Each other processor listed above maintains equivalent transfer mechanisms.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers
If Aaronaut Studios LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred. We will provide notice before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
With Your Consent
We may share information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.
Data Retention
Quiz sessions, gift recommendations, and saved gifts are stored against your anonymous identifier for as long as your anonymous account exists. You may delete all of this data at any time via Settings → Delete Account & Data in the App. Automatically collected data such as usage analytics and crash logs is retained only as long as necessary for its stated purpose, typically no more than 12 months, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
If you contact us for support, we retain your correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry.
Security
We implement industry-standard safeguards including encrypted data transmission (TLS), row-level security controls on our database, and restricted access to personal data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
GiftBetter is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights & Choices
Access and Deletion Requests
You may delete all quiz sessions, saved gifts, and recipient profiles associated with your device at any time directly in the App via Settings → Delete Account & Data. Deletion is permanent and takes effect within 24 hours. For any other personal information you have provided (such as support correspondence), contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
Marketing Communications
We do not send promotional emails unless you have explicitly opted in. If you have done so, you may opt out at any time by following the unsubscribe instructions in those emails.
California Residents (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know categories of personal information collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. EEA/UK Residents (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have rights including access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. We process personal data under the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — processing your quiz answers to deliver gift recommendations you requested, and storing saved gifts at your direction.
- Legitimate interests — crash reporting and error monitoring to maintain App security and stability; storing anonymous session identifiers to provide a consistent in-app experience.
- Consent — push notifications, which require your explicit permission via your device's system prompt.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling beyond generating gift recommendations at your explicit request. Third-Party Links & Services
The App may display links to third-party websites or integrate with third-party retailers and services for gift purchasing. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties, and we encourage you to review their policies.
Amazon Associates Disclosure
GiftBetter participates in the Amazon Associates affiliate programme. When you tap a "Buy on Amazon" link, we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Amazon's privacy policy governs all data collected on Amazon's platforms after you leave the App.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
